Virtus were engaged by D2 Private for the project management of the restoration and extension to the iconic Clery’s department store on O’Connell Street. Originally destroyed by fire during the Easter Rising in 1916, it was re-built and opened again in 1922.
The Clerys Clock, which hangs over the main entrance door, has been a meeting point for Dubliners for generations. Part of the overall Clery’s Quarter development, the project will be home to 90,000 sqft of Grade A offices, 68,000 sqft of retail stores and restaurants, 18,700 sqft of a destination rooftop venue, a 176 bedroom 4* hotel and a new streetscape in Earl Place.
Virtus managed the planning process for D2 Private and by applying our experience in the Project Management of large scale complex restoration projects we ensured that the right processes, cost controls and project structures were put in place from the commencement of the project in order to secure a planning grant.
